Mom- Master Of Multitasking

Mother, Mom- Master Of Multitasking; is a title that comes with so many roles and responsibilities. Being a mom is a full-time job with no leave days or sick days, and moms try to do complete justice to all the tasks they face. Mothers mean a lot to us and are the ones that mostly set the initial foundation for us. Whether you’re a “work at home mom,” a “working mom,” you wear many hats, and in honor of Mothers Day, here are a few and why we love them so. (Momspresso, 2018)

1. Chef: moms plan, take requests, and cook meals for the entire family. This is a hat that many mothers wear with pride as the whole family looks forward to homemade meals. Working moms also find the time to surprise their families with their cooking. 
2. Playmates: mothers have been playing with us while we were still growing in their tummies, and continued being there as playmates as we kept growing. Moms have been entertaining their kids during vacations, on rainy days, during car rides, taking them to the malls and parks, and the library. 
3. Teacher: Who were our first teachers? Yes, you got it right, mothers! Mothers are the first teachers to their kids as they get to spend time with them from birth up to school-going age. Teaching begins from the infant stage when babies are taught how to roll over, sit up, crawl, walk, talk, and hold a spoon to potty training. Mothers also teach good manners, help with school homework and in making crafts. Even after we leave school and begin our adult lives, our mothers continue to share their wisdom, drawing upon their own experiences whenever they can. 
4. Nurse: mothers take on the task of caring for loved ones who fall ill, and nurse them back to health. They make sure they are eating and drinking well, taking their medicines on time, and getting plenty of rest.
5. Event Planner and Photographer: mothers are generally the ones who plan weekend activities, outings with friends, and trips and end up taking most of the photos that they most often don’t feature in (Mode, 2016). They plan kids' birthdays and events, send out invites, shop for required staff, then be a good host and make sure everybody is having a good time. 
6. Housekeeper: this is a round-the-clock job that includes dusting, sweeping, doing dishes, laundry, picking up toys, and cleaning up spills. You put something away, your child takes out another thing. You clean up the food on the floor, and your toddler throws more down on the ground. Mothers fix toys, do minor and even major repairs around the house, replace batteries and even paint rooms. They patch holes, fix hems, alter clothes and even find time to make clothes for the dolls.  All mums deserve a pat on the back for doing all this work without hesitation. 
7. Enforcers: mothers set the rules, and code of conduct and ensure that everybody adheres to them. They follow up on everybody's behavior and mete out appropriate punishment to those that break the rules. Mothers make for the best companions because they are a child's best friends. 
8. Chauffeur: moms drive kids to and from school, playdates, appointments, and shopping. They do drop off and pick up duty even in adulthood. 

 
A mother works hard to make sure their child is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to make it a competent human being. Being a mother is perhaps the hardest, most rewarding job a woman will ever experience (Diranian, 2017). A mother helps guide their child to figure out their goals and values in life as well as teach them the importance of education, manners, and more. Providing your child with a safe and secure environment protects them from abuse and harm as well as helps boost their child's mental and emotional development. 

On Mother’s Day, we celebrate women who have stepped in to take on a maternal role on so many occasions. Women are mentors, guides, supporters, and even rescuers. Women nurture, affirm, encourage, give solace and give us a reality check (Sirota, 2015). 

To all the mothers in the world, those who gave birth to us and those who didn't, we appreciate you, we love you and your sacrifices don’t go unnoticed.
