Our Mission

Community Allies is available to school districts, educational leaders, administrators, teachers, parents, and students for short or long-term mentoring of educators in the ethnodramatic approach to culturally relevant, student-centered instruction, Honoring Stories and Integrating Curriculum™.
Our mentoring comes in a variety of formats primarily focused in two areas: professional development for administrators and teachers and ethnodrama programs for students.
Through Honoring Stories and Integrating Curriculum™, we help you integrate student-centered, place-based, arts-based, real-world research into any grade, school-wide inquiry, or subject area. We help you increase student retention, academic and college and career success through dynamic, real-world literacy learning opportunities. We support teachers in strengthening and expanding within and across discipline teacher research communities through which teachers systematize the documentation and analysis of their teaching and innovate practices that align with student literacy, identity, and cultural needs.

Ethnodrama: Engaging Students as Community Leaders
- In every aspect of our professional development, we center instruction in the many aspects of student cultures, literacies, and identities.
- We help you connect the arts with socially just and multicultural teaching and learning.
- We do not bring a prescribed curriculum or program; we offer an array of educational materials and instructional supports.
- We learn from you your questions and desires for teaching and learning.
- We provide a variety of literacy frameworks, dramatic resources, digital data bases and curricular materials and then support you in adapting and building upon them as you design your own instruction.
- We help you innovate your instruction through interdisciplinary relationships with other teachers in your school.
- We co-construct knowledge with you regarding the use of ethnodramatic and digital platforms that facilitate culturally responsive teaching.
