Feedback After One of Two Team Workshops in the Academy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Washington University
  • "Thank you both so much for the facilitated workshop yesterday. I'm still marinating on the conversation and loved the way you set up the activities and the conversation. It has impacted my framework and how I think about culture change. I'll incorporate what I've learned into the initiatives I'm working on. I learned a lot about the topic and about setting up safe places to talk. Thank you, both, again!"
  • "This exercise provided helpful visuals to understand the way institutions/individuals/culture interact along the path to culture change."
  • "I loved every minute of yesterday's activities. I hope that you all will make your presentations, especially historical presentations, available to those of us that are interested. They give great perspective and understanding of the landscape and where we are today as an institution."
Feedback After the Second Team Workshop at Day of Dialogue in the Academy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Washington University
  • "It was a pleasure to have spoken with you and attended the “Influences that Move Culture Change” workshop. In particular, I really enjoyed learning about historical events that shaped our university into what we see today. With the help of events like Day of Dialogue, we can continue to move forward to get to where we need to be in terms of being genuinely inclusive, intentional and mindful about the struggles of one another. Diversity goes beyond variation in skin color. For myself, and my department I hope to build a stronger community with those who are differentally-abled and those who may be trans or non-trans who struggle with equity as well . . . I applaud you and your team. In the near future we must work out a training for our department. Lastly, it is great to see you as an important figure of the university present and available for questions."  Mirhanda Allen, Research Technician II, GTAC@MGI, Cortex.

Faculty and staff from Washington University attend the Day of Dialogue Academy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops. They interacted creatively with a timeline of Washington University's history, situated in St. Louis history, developed with and for the Academy by Sarah Hobson and Adam Layne. They drew on an Academy developed framework that helped them explore Washington University's past in the context of learning how to make change in their own departments.
