Community Allies is available to school districts for short or long-term mentoring of educators in culturally relevant curriculum enrichment that supports teacher and student leadership in community change-making. Based on the particular issues and needs of your classroom, school, or district, we help you integrate local history and creative and artistic resources that align with the broad range of teacher and youth literacies and with their real world college, career, identity, and citizenship needs. We provide training in practitioner research techniques that can help you research your educational initiatives and strengthen within and across discipline teaching and research partnerships, and we provide research assistance to help you document instructional designs and learning outcomes. We provide professional development in the form of in-person visits, classroom assistance, and interactive workshops, webinars, and video conversations. We work with you to establish a time line and program sufficient for your educational goals.

  • Learn innovative collaborative research methodologies that you can use to grow as an organization, as a school, as a teacher.
  • Learn how students can join these research efforts and gain agency in pursuing their own learning goals.


Inspiring Critical Writing

  • Expand upon the ways you engage students as researchers and writers through the use of ethnodramatic, community-centered non-traditional data collection, analyses and film production.
  • Learn how these interactive, concrete, and hands on instructional methods impact student agency in becoming community leaders.
